What was the illness or what caused the high death rate of the ‘sweating sickness’? A mystery illness causing mystery till in our days, but leaving its severe consequences all over England at the time.

Philippa Langley is active again and has a very detailed theory what happened to the nephews of King Richard III. And for once, he is not supposed to have killed them, but rather some historic evidence gives hints at a completely different fate.

Was King Richard a murderous psychopath or a holier than holy king, who ruled for the benefit of his people? The search for answers occupies historians and researchers and debates are fought heatedly. What a nice change it is, to find new thought-provoking input into this long-lasting debate.
Philippa Langley, the central figure in finding King Richard III in the carpark in Leicester, has a new theory and clues of what happened to Prince Edward, who would have become King Edward V, if fate had not interfered, and whom King Richard III supposedly had killed.

The movie about the search for King Richard III starts filming. The ‘famous’ carpark will be reconstructed for the filming in Newtongrange’s National Mining Museum Lady Victoria Colliery in Scottland.

Though I find it a rather mute occupation for historians to speculate what could have been, as in my opinion only the future is possibility, while the past is selection and interpretation, I still mention this newest article about King Richard III here for completeness sake.

Steve Coogan, Stephen Frears and screenwriter Jeff Pope will work together on “The Lost King”, the comedy-drama about King Richard III for Pathe that is planned to start filming sin Spring 2021.

Ms. Philippa Langley and her efforts to search for the remains of King Richard III now will get recognised in a film, which is intended to start filming in 2021.
Mr. Steve Coogan will play Ms. Langley’s husband in the planned film.

How a location can change the perception of past events, that is the result of the extensive research by Mike Ingram about the Battle of Bosworth and the now discovered new location of the battle grounds.
His new publication “Richard III and the Battle of Bosworth”, just published on October 30th, 2019, draws a completely new picture about the battle itself, how it evolved, but also about the events leading up to it.

A new portrait was revealed for the 567th birthday of King Richard III at Hever Castle. But would he have been happy about this portrait? Christina J. Faraday, an affiliated lecturer in the History of Art Department at the University of Cambridge, goes deeper into the real meaning of the newly revealed portrait and its Tudor interpretation.

He has published this article already in August 2014, but it now was re-published by BBC History Extra and still is very interesting to read.

Visitors are queuing up in front of Leicester Cathedral, to see King Richard III’s tomb. Now plans are made to add exhibition rooms to the church building, to accommodate visitors better.

Historians Mike Pitts, Matthew Lewis, George Goodwin, Diane Purkiss and Michael Jones give their views about the Battlefield of Bosworth, where King Richard III died in 1485. What knowledge is still to be had from a battlefield, of which the exact location was found out only a few years ago? Would it be worth it to destroy the access to a field exactly at a moment, when technology finally catches up with the historical research about the time and could supplement and extend the knowledge about fighting methods, but also about the society of the time?

Dr. John Ashdown-Hill, the historian behind the finding of the remains of King Richard III in Leicester, died on 18 May 2018.
